Owners Sheldon Swartzentruber and Verle Schlabach know a thing or two about teamwork. The two boys grew up across the fields from one another—Verle’s family with a hog farm and Sheldon’s family with a dairy farm, and experienced both their fathers using Conklin products (circa 1976, before Conklin formalized their Roofing Systems business). They attended school together, and dabbled in various construction projects, both on their farms and off, before settling–independently—on becoming roofing specialists. Because they both had the practical skills, and trusted one another, they would often work together on one another’s roofing jobs. These exposures set the foundation for a lifelong friendship built on teamwork, and a successful business partnership built on friendship, trust and mutual respect. Verle retired in 2024, after 36 years at DRC. Delmarva Roofing & Coating, Inc. is now owned and operated solely by Sheldon.
World renowned Olympic gymnast Mary-Lou Retton likes to tell her motivational program audiences how her famed Olympic coach Bela Karoli, used to literally brainwash his talented performers with an acronym he would recite regularly: Together Everyone Achieves More.
Delmarva Roofing & Coating, Inc co-owners Sheldon Swartzentruber and Verle Schlabach might not have made Karoli’s Olympic Gymnast Team, but they are certainly living proof of the Together Everyone Achieves More way of thinking.

Lives in Greenwood, DE with wife, Sylvia. Has two children and five grandchildren. Enjoys Hunting, Camping, Riding Motorcycle, Involved in all Day-to-Day operations, Invoicing, advertising, Marketing, Human Resources, & Safety Issues. Sylvia was the primary office manager for 36 years, but recently retired. Sylvia is still available as a consultant for the office operations.
When he's not working, you’ll usually find him fishing, gaming, or working on woodworking, blacksmithing, and leatherworking projects. He's a lifelong Star Wars fan and proud husband to his wife, Holli, and dad to their three kids. He has been with DRC since 2011
Spencer moved to Bridgeville, DE, after he married Sheldon and Sylvia's daughter, Caitlin. He joined the DRC team in the sales department in 2020, and has since moved to operations and scheduling for the roofing division. Spencer and Caitlin have 3 daughters. He enjoys playing guitar, hobby farming, motorcycles, goats, camping, and many other topics.
